I have ordered all I need to make my first C&C cage! :D

I got another guinea pig this week, Toffee, which brings my total to four (with babies on the way) so want to get them out of their traditional shop cages and give them plenty of space. I have next week off from uni so hope it will all arrive early in the week so I have plenty of time to experiment.

I'm stupidly excited! :<>

Where did you get you C&C cage ? or what your using for it ? :)
How big are you planning on making it !?
and don't forget to post lots of piccys, i love seeing pictures of people's C&C cage !

After following some threads and the stickies in this section I have ordered...

The grids: [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0011YAZV8[/ame]

Correx: http://www.teacratepackaging.co.uk/correx-board

I have a huge amount of cable ties from when I had my first car. The bonnet had to be held down with them! :))

At first it will only be large enough to hold my girls, as the boys will be neutered before being paired up with a lady each. Then I plan to make it bigger. I also hope to incorporate part of one of my existing cages - my friend bought me a two tier cage as a present so I hope to add an extra floor or a loft of some sort to the C&C by using the top tier of the cage. We will see anyway! :)

Awesome, i nearly bought them grids but was unsure 'cause the didn't look like the mesh ones other people seem to use, but i can't wait to see some piccys of your cage and a review of how well it works etc. :)
I'm not sure if i'd trust my piggies in a C&C Cage, they can jump out of anything, they have a cage with a ledge and they've recently started jumping up onto the ledge without using the ladder !
We had a topless run, and my guinea pig escaped by jumping out of that too...
But i wish i could have A C&C cage, 'cause i love the thought of being able to move it around and make it the way you like it, haha.
Good luck :)

I went for those purely because of the babies that are on the way. From what I could see the mesh is tiny. Oooh gosh I hope I haven't bought any that aren't right! Will see what they're like when they arrive I suppose!
Aww your pigs sound very cheeky!
I will of course put up some pics. :)

Oh darn it.

I think if the OP has babies due the wire ones would need doubling up anyway, so the ones she's ordered should be okay, but they are smaller than the "normal" ones though so she may need more rolleyes

I saw those, thought 'Oooh great price! Ooh tiny mesh!" and got them. What a plank! I'll cancel the order and get the others that have been suggested if it means I'm going to have to change it all once the babies are bigger. Thanks very much, everyone. :)

If you have babies then I suggest you make the correx to come up about 6 inches & whilst they are tiny either use double the grids to make the holes smaller (so they don't get their heads caught) or pop cardboard between the correx & the actual grids :)

Just realised your location, can you not get to the JTF Warehouse in Tamworth?
http://www.jtfmegadiscountwarehouse.co.uk/branch-locator.php

JTF Tamworth
Unit 1 Ninian Point, Ninian Way, Wilnecote, (just down from the Co-Op Superstore), Tamworth
Staffordshire. B77 5DE
TEL: 01827 284320

They do mesh grids in packs of 13 grids for less than £10 in silver or pink. You may have to ask for them in the store as they keep them high up! You just join fill in the membership form online & print it off rolleyes those are ideal for babies & adults, I've got some already.

Ooh thank you very much! I think there's one of those in Stoke, but Tamworth isn't that far either.

I was looking at an online form and it was telling me to fill in my business address, so I was a little confused, does this mean I can't get membership, or have I picked the wrong form? :{

No you don't need to be a business. Just use your home address & photocopy some ID she didn't even ask to see it when I went in rolleyes just use a phone bill, water bill or something similar.

Thanks for clarifying, I shall go over on Monday. Thank you very much! :)

No problem :)

They are called "Homemaker Lifestyle mesh storage cubes" in silver or pink. They are on the shelves but right up above are even more of them, so if there aren't any silver ones on the shelf just ask as they will get them down with a ladder for you :)

Oh & the box is square lol
