hi erveryone, i take in unwanted guinea pigs and so have a mixture of male an females. all the males are castrated apart from a 12 week old.

I was given two males who seemed to get on but after being with me they started fighting, i seperated them and castrated them so they could go with females. Anyway i ended up putting one of them with a baby boar.

They seem okay in their hutch but when i put them in the run they chatter their teeth and chase each other. they haven't bitten each other yet but think they will soon.

could it be they can smell the other male and female g.p? i move the runs round so at some point they will end up on same grass as the others have been on.

Hi Sue,

It could be they can smell the girls. Also moving from a hutch to a run they are just establishing dominance everytime. Perhaps they can just have their own area for now and see if that works.

How old are the boys now? If teenagers (6-12 months) then they will figure out dominance over time and hopefully be ok.

Good luck with them, I've 6 boars in pairs they can be funny little things! :)

they are 18 months and 12 weeks. is it best not to put them in a run , or i could put them in a run and not move it. so it's only them who ever go in it!

I'd put them in the run still but not move it and see if that works. :)
