So, After clover had her baby, I removed Star because she was biting the baby. She's in a temporary cage right now that I had at the beginning of getting them. One that was WAY too small. So, now that Kina (the baby) is old enough to wean, I figured that she could hold her own between two adult pigs. I put Star in the cage and was relieved to find that Clover began grooming her and actually put star to sleep.

Well... Star woke up, and when she did she immediately tore into Kina. And, because she went after Kina, clover went after her. Now they're not getting along at all because Clover is protective of the baby. But, I can't very well keep Star in the temporary cage, it's way too small (2 x 1 1/2 feet).

Any advice?

They have to go through this to establish the hierarchy of the group. I know it looks horrible but it has to be done. Wait and see if they settle it. I see no reason why they cannot live happily together. I hope it works.

So... Fighting is normal? They were jumping over eachother and nipping but none of it looked too bad I suppose. I just don't want them getting hurt.

NOPE not working out. Clover is bleeding now because of Star. :/ Not doing it. She'll have to stay in the small cage until I can find something else. IF not a new home for or something.

Once blood has been drawn piggies should be seperated and reintroduction is unlikely. You could look into getting star a new friend. What kind of cage are the other two girls in?

I am not able to get any more piggies, haha! I believe it would be a death sentence for myself. As my grandmother is already at her wits end with the six we got. Our two boys and two girls have the same type of cage, it's a Midwest Guinea Pig Habitat. It measures 2x4 feet and they love it.

Then star has the same size cage as our other boy, Mookie.

Our boy mookie was thought to be a girl, but turns out he wasn't. He's the father of Kina. I was THINKING about getting him fixed and placing him back with Kina and Clover... When we took them to the vet I asked about it and he said they don't like doing it anymore, because the girls will attack and kill the boy if he's fixed. So, now I refuse to get any of them neutered. So he's also stuck in a little cage for now.

Ummm, I don't think your vet hasn't given you the best advice about how sows react to neutered boars. I doubt very much that they would attack and kill a male just because he has had the snip! Many forum members have neutered boars living with one or more female.

Really? He said that he refuses to do it now because the females WILL kill them... That's odd...

I find that hard to believe , because how would the female even know. From what I have read the neutering does not change the males behaviour. Also rescues neuter boys and place them with a couple of wives and then rehome them, surely they wouldnt do that if they were going to be killed.

I think a new vet might be a good idea

Although I can't help with the situation with your girls, I just wanted to add that I have a neutered boar living with five girls. We had three when we first got him and we have since added two others. Far from killing him, Boris is often a calming influence when one of the girls (usually Marmite!) gets irritable. I have a very stable group where everypig is relaxed and seems to know their place.

Do you have any other local vets you could try? I'm afraid you've been given the wrong information there :(

The only thing I would possibly try is a bath for the three girls so their scent is neutral. I'd leave it a good few days so everyone has calmed down though. As they've fought, I don't know how successful it would be though..

Might be worth traveling further afield to see if someone neuters. We promise they definatly wont kill him because hes neutered!

He could then be paired with star and you wouldnt be getting any more piggies.

Its always frustrating when piggies dont get along.
