i got two baby boys earlier tonight and finally finished my 3x5 cage for them well they were fine in the car but when we got home and they were in the cage they were making that grinding noise piggies make when fighting i have been watching and nothing serious as of yet. i have two of everything i put in their cage so there is nothing to fight over. should they be ok? how bad should they be before i seperate ive had 4 piggies before but they all got along and this is my first time with babies...mallethead:{

They might just be showing dominance, and babies are more hyperactive than older pigs so might tend to be louder or do it more often, my 3 babies do it almost constantly but never actually fight. I wouldn't worry too much and please don't separate them unless blood is drawn but don't let it get too bad and good luck with your boys, hopefully they will calm down soon :)

thanks i dont plan to seperate them unless truly necessary. one of them is already extremely tame the other is super shy. they are only a couple of weeks old. once i figure out how to post pics of them i willl.

You should separate them and reintroduce them again slowly. even better, make the cage bigger so they have a place to retreat when threatened or when they are fighting. also get something like a pigloo for them to hide in. hope this helps.

i also see that many guinea pig owners usually have many youngsters and one old person. the oldy works as the daddy and helps keep it balance. he is the leader of them all.
