Mine have started fighting againmallethead.I am going crazy.I don't what to do.
Biscuit will hump him and chase him around and around.Apatche will scream.8... It hurts me.Do know They can't be together.Biscuit is in a small cage know because i don't have another big cage.He seems to be happy.Apatche is glad he can eat and all with out Biscuit bothering him.but he seems to miss him he will wheek for him but he want talk back to him.

Are they actually fighting, or just chasing and humping - if it's the latter then it's normal dominance behaviour and quite usual. If they are actually fighting with chattering teeth and blood drawn then you WILL need to separate. There is a sticky thread at the top of the Behaviour Board in this forum HERE which may help you identify the warning and usual signs if you have not already seen it, but although it's distressing for us to witness, chasing and mounting IS normal and will die down.

Just make sure it doesn't develop into a fight - when one of our pairs does this, if it looks like they are really getting on each others nerves and they are about to get a seriously narky with each other, a few hours separation with a mesh divider in between them usually does the trick, but try not to worry yet :)

Is there blood? Or is there just chasing and humping? How's the teeth chattering?

Some guinea pigs are drama queens and can scream, even if they're not hurt! They just scream when they feel put upon.

No blood YET.I have already sepreated sp? them and then put them back together and he started it right away.Biscuit is teeth chattering and all. They have done this before and there was blood drawn then. They had been back together for a few months and Biscuit started being mean again. He want poor Apatche eat or drink. It is like he gets food aggression.

If they have been fighting before, it probably wise to keep them apart permanently, but I would prefer more qualified advice than I can give you!

Hi again!
Have you had an earlier thread about the fighting? If yes, can you go back (it should be in your personal profile under "statistics" under your avatar pic on the right and then underneath the main square).

Perhaps you can pm some people who gave good advice then?

didn't really find much because he calmed down.he ain't like this all the time he will be fine for months and then he starts again. I don't know why he does it.It is like he has mood swings.

He probably has - hormones flaring up every now and then.

Can you make sure that they have everything in duplicate and as much space as possible? But if you had fighting before, you probably have already!

Boars will chase around and try to gain dominance. Things can settle down though. They will "rattle and roll" and "swag from side to side" but if blood is drawn, then unfortunately it is difficult to let them carry on living together.

Also please do check around the back of the neck and along the spine for bite marks that initially you would not see. Not wanting to worry you, but bites can go unnoticed especially if long haired piggies.

How are things are the moment?

This is not uncommon for them to test each other now and again, unfortunately the hormones get a bit carried away and they like to swagger about a bit! As Goldie said, keep an eye on them as it's easy to miss bite wounds.

If Biscuit is getting possesive about the food and water, DO make sure that you have two of everything, he won't be able to be in two places at once. Also with any hidey holes - I try to make mine open ended both ends like the stick tunnels you get rather than enclosed houses so the bossy ones can't block the more passive ones in or guard it which cuts down on confrontations.

ok i will try the two waters. They are the only guinea pigs i have i don't have any female guineas at all.Right now all is fine because they are seperated.

Best of luck. There needn't necessarily require a trigger to set off dominance behaviour or fighting, unfortunately they sometimes just decide they don't like each other any more. Raging hormones also fire up the testosterone levels and can get them all fired up too, but don't give up hope yet, there is a fair chance it may sort itself out :) Just make sure that they are both managing to feed and drink, especially when the veggies go in.
