we have a Ferret nation cage that has been used for our ferret and as a sleep space for our rabbits ( we are down to one rabbit who now lives in a pen in my daughter’s room) - it is now sitting empty and my son suggested we make it into a guinea pig mansion for Smudhe and Willow. I know I would need to modify the ramps and I would want to edge the ledges - has anyone here done something like that? If you have photos I would love to see them.
Thanks!

Here is a photo from a website for the cage it is 36”wide x 24” deep

That cage is too narrow for guinea pigs. If you use it, they will need full time access to a run.

For guinea pigs, only largest floor counts towards the space. They need space to run laps. For two males, recommended size is 12 sq.ft.

That cage is only 6 sq.ft.

It's a great cage, but I don't think it would be appropriate for guinea pigs (even with some modifications).
Guinea pigs do best on one large level (or possibly 2 levels connected with a gently sloping ramp) and multiple small levels wouldn't offer them the space they need.
They aren't particularly agile, so keeping their main living area flat and open allows them to run and play safely.

Thanks everyone, I will just keep them in their current space and we’ll retire the Ferret Nation to the storage shed
