Hello.
Does anyone have any experience with this water bottle?
I recently bought it for my piggies and they are just ignoring it. Did anyone else have the same problem?

We have a couple of these as well as the standard classic midi ones. Our boys tend to use the classic more than the sippy water bottles. I think the angle of the spout is not preferred by some piggies. It’s a shame really as they are good because you don’t have to remove the bottle to top them up :) and cleaning them is eaay too.

I love them but my piggies refused to use them sadly, so I eventually gave up and removed them.
However Oreo is obsessed with draining her water bottle so I am considering going back to them and trying again.
I think @Squeakz uses them for her rats and thought they were pretty good.

Mine also. At first they tried it but they just didn't like it. Yes and they are more quiet (I think so - didn't really see them using it that much). It's a shame really. Thank you for your comment :)

Thank you also for your comment. It's really sad that they just don't try it. I hope you succeed. Let us know how you'll do. I found the user and I'll ask for the tips :) Thank you so much!

I have one in the cupboard! It was in the cage for 2 weeks and not touched, I then tried it with my other boars and they wouldn't use it either. I guess it's down to individual piggys and to a certain extent what they are used to.

I’ve tried alsorts to encourage the boys to use them more, they prefer them higher up to the classic midis. I think it’s so they lift their head as opposed to tilting it to one side.

Sorry to hear that. My opinion is that the water doesn't leak like in the classic water bottles and so they just don't want to use it. I also noticed that mine like to drink from the bottle that gives more water. You're right. Just like some piggies are used to water bowls and others aren't :)

That's possible. I also noticed that they just like the water bottle to ''leak'' in some way and they get more water. Not really leak, but to give more water than others. And this one doesn't. I would normally use the classic one but since my youngest piggie likes to drink water with her teeth it's very loud in the night. And that's why I bought this bottle. I'm also taking the classic bottle out in the night and leave this one and I also tried the water bowl. But they just don't want to touch it.

I have one of these, and all the piggies in that enclosure prefer it, however Mowgli has a problem with it, he keeps letting it drip down his chin so I had to put a bowl underneath it.

Congratulations! Do you have any tips on how you got them to start using it? My youngest piggie has the same problem. Is your Mowgli also young? I thought that since they are a little smaller and their mouths aren't as big they have this problem and they can't put the bottle in their mouths so they use their teeth to drink. Or am I wrong and some just do that?

Mine never wanted to use it either. I think the angle is unusual or uncomfortable for them.

I gave it to a friend who has rats, and they loved it though.

I also don't think I'll have any luck with this bottle. Thank you for your comment :)

I have five in use. It might help to hold your piggy and gently put it's mouth to the plunger and release some water. be gentle though.

I use these. When I first got them I left one of the classic bottles in over night/when I was out, and when I was home all day took the classic one out.

One of my boys took to it instantly - but he drinks loads - he loves that he can just pop his tongue on the end and as much water as he wants comes out (and about half of it down his front..!). It took my other boy a few days, but he uses them happily now. 'His' one is upstairs, and he has twisted the nozzle so that it's at an agle, rather than pointing straight down.

Also, make sure you have them high enough - it took a little while to get the height right for them..

Thank you, that's very helpful. I will try that. You're right, it's possible that the bottle is too low for them and I should try to put it a little higher.
One of my piggies also does that. She drinks and half of the water goes down and not in the mouth. They are funny. Thank you very much for your advice!

Mine are not the ferplast they are Search - Lixit Animal Care Products

The lixit quickfill ones has a multidirectional valve which I find makes it easier for them to work out as they get water from pushing it or pressing it however they please.
