Having a C&C cage for my 2 always indoor piggies, I need to get another organised to get the 3 girls in for winter.

However! Much as I find the C&C cage, fleece and towels etc., easy to keep clean, it's completely a no-no to look after 2 of them because it kills my already failing back to do one on my hands and knees :o

I was thinking that the Ferplast 140 cage says it's big enough for 3 piggies and I can get a stand to raise it off the floor :)

Is the 140 big enough for 3 piggies (girls - one small, one large & one baby)?

They still have big floor space with toys etc., and I will want to line the cage with fleece etc., as I have done the C&C or is it not that easy? :^-

And, whilst I'm quite good with my hands, it is totally beyond me to build some sort of structure to put the C&C on to help my back!

Questions, questions, sorry :))

You can add stand to your C&C. I have bad back too and find the stand helps a lot. Plus it give a lot of storage space for piggies stuff.

I know it looks messy. But once I clip fabric in front, it looks perfect.

Edit to add:
Sorry I miss the part where you said you cannot build the stand.
Can you buy a table and put the cage on?

I think that's about the size of a 4 x 2 C & C cage, which gives you a minimum of 10.5 feet for three piggies. They are expensive though. (cheapest I looked at dreaded P @ H for £100) They are huge :)

Could you not raise the C & C cage on boxes or on more grids underneath? That way you could make a 2 x 5 or something ?

There are loads of examples of C & C cages that are raised on the Guinea Pig cages site:

Good luck! :))

I never thought to add the grids underneath. It is still a safe structure? How did you put it together because it looks fab :) and so much easier for my back :(|)

What a shame you are in Yorkshire as I am selling my ferplast 140 and stand!

It's hard to explain how to put the grids together. You have to think which direction to turn the connectors to be able to add the grids where you want them. You'd also have to use zip/cable ties around all the connectors so they won't move around.

Here are some samples of the ones that someone post their process.

I also add wooden support for me cage, like this one.

LOL The light was not a pic of my cage :) Found that pic on the guineapigcages gallery. I do use the same wooden beam though.

To keep our C&C off the ground we got some plywood cut to a bit bigger than the cage to sit on top of a chest of drawers. We then stuck batons on the bottom so it wouldn't slide on the drawers and then some data rail along the sides at the top so the C&C wouldn't move. Works perfect for us and no bending over. Also doesn't take up any more space in the room as the drawers were already in situ.

Thanks for that - I have an old solid chest of drawers which I can use, plus I know the local timber store will cut wood to size for me, so that's a great idea. I can have one on the floor and one up, so at least I can get some relief :(|)
