Hi

I'm about to acquire 2 boars, who live very well together. I'm thinking about getting the Ferplast 120 cage. Is this suitable? Is it a good cage?

I have a ferplast 120 and it's pretty good! Though I had 2 females in it last time. There is plenty of space for 2 hides, a tunnel, 2 bowls and 2 water bottles. And then space to run and chase so that should be sufficient. But it's easy to want to pack out spare space with more furniture so be economical to make sure they get some leg room!

If the boars are only young it will be plenty of space, if they are adolescent they may scrap a little, if they are more mature, the space should be fine. As long as you remember that no matter the size of the cage it is always good practice to give them a change of scenery and take them out for playtime every day for a couple of hours if poss. :)

Ever thought of C&C? I have a 120 but I'm thinking of converting. The ferplast is probably better if you have lots of stuff going on/other pets because it stops stuff falling/dropping in the cage, otherwise C&C has better customisability and you can add more rooms to it if you get any more money/space.

Thank you for this informative post. :)

The boars are mature, around 15 months old. I have other pets, so it needs to be enclosed. I'm getting a large playpen, which they will play in for 3-4 hours daily. :)

Niiiice :) I'm sure they'll do great! But if you ever do notice serious scrappies be sure to try a bigger cage before you worry about incompatable personalities. I've never had a boar pair so I'm only talking hypothetically. I personally love the 120, it's easy to get inside to clean (if you dont mind being a bit bendy), it fits under the stairs and on my coffee table (with an added side table under the end because it is a bit too long) and it's not a hideous colour! :D

This is the old layout of my cage when I first got it. I've since changed the wooden house to face the kitchen and the front of the cage is a whopping hay pit for her to roll in.

That looks like the 140 rather than the 120 to me dustybugs, the 120 usually has doors that span the entire length in two halfs rather than one small middle door :-) The 140 is fab OP a nice size I had one. I would use a 120 if I had to plenty of pigs happily live in them, but they're smaller floorspace wise than a 3x2 c&c and with boars people suggest 5x2 so be ideal so bear that in mind.

It is definitely the 140 pictured above as I have the 140. I would happily recommend the Ferplast 140 - it's a good size altogether including front-to-back as well as being a good length.

HAHA WHOOPS! I DONT EVEN KNOW MY OWN CAGE. Thank the piggy lord for people with eyes. I'm so sorry cute_guineapigs.

I think it depends on your pigs. Hamish and Dougal have a 120 and a 100cm cage, joined in the middle with a log bridge. It gives them plenty of room to get away from each other when they need to. I got the idea from someone else on here- can't remember who now. Sorry it's a bad photo, but you get the idea. :)

I think that would be me,I joined 2 120 cages that I bought from ebay (very cheap:£ 1.04
and the newer one was just under £30) for my four girls over winter and joined them with a log bridge.

The cages are both 120 in the picture x

thanks guys. I've got a Rabbit 120 cage. As their playpen is 3ft x 3ft and they'll be in it a lot, hopefully this will prevent any problems with squabbling.
