As I mentioned in a previous thread, there has been a major falling out in my previously happy foursome.
I am still devastated by this sudden change of group dynamic, but I am also realistic - I have to come up with a new short term plan to house everyone in a way that keeps them safe and makes them happy.
Given what I currently have to work with, this is our new set up.
I would really appreciate any feedback anyone can offer.

Eddi and Oreo have a 2 x 4.
Ruby and Lucy only have a 2 x 3.
Their hay trays are smaller than I would like to maximize floor space.
They all have a mix of wooden houses (they like to chew/destroy) and soft bedding (they like their creature comforts).

I know that 2 x 3 is too small for the girls, and I am hoping that by the end of the month, both pairs will have a 2 x 5 with a loft.
For the record I hate the new set up because it seems so small.

They are separated by grids right now, but I had to put a piece of correx across the grids because Lucy was chewing the bars manically to get to Eddi and Oreo.
The whole thing is heartbreaking (for me) because Lucy would love to be back with Edi and Oreo, but she is also the only guinea pig that Ruby has ever fully accepted, and I want to try and keep them as a pair if at all possible.

I would love any feedback on improving the cages, or how to keep everyone happy.
I feel like a totally rubbish owner right now, so am worried I am not making good decisions for the guinea pigs.

Yes I agree you are a rubbish owner, & I'm gonna report you to someone (just can't think who yet) :lol!:
I think it is a brilliant cage once you get the lofts done, they will have loads of room, have all 4 of them fallen out then. Tut Tut

Looks great! You are doing the best for your piggies and that in no way makes you a bad owner! It's only short term so wont do them any harm until you extend :)

As everyone has said, this is a great-looking set up, you've done a fine job with what you had to hand. Can you give Lucy and Ruby floortime to ameliorate the smaller cage?

Thanks everyone - they will all get regular floor time, but we will prioritise the girls for now given their smaller set up.
Like I said, I am hoping it is only for a few weeks until everyone is back in a 2 x 5 (but not together).

I suppose it is difficult because I had actually ordered more grids to give them a bigger cage overall, and now those grids will be used to give them smaller individual cages. Plus I think Lucy seriously misses Eddi and Oreo, but there is no real way to overcome this without leaving Ruby (asbo pig) on her own.

Your cage set up as always looks beautiful. Our sows were initially in a 2x3 (with loft), Ruby and Lucy will be fine, it seems small because you are used to such a large space for them all.

What does asbo stand for?
Also, do you think maybe Lucy could have floor the with Eddi and oreo? That way even though she's not living with them she still gets time with them. Not sure of that would work though.

I think the cage setups look lovely.
Another option if you're not happy with the 2x3 would maybe be to stack a 2x4 on top of the existing 2x4. If you cable tie the grids you can create a hinged door on the side of the bottom one to allow you access.

Asbo stands for anti social behavioural order

Whaaa I want a living room that has a great big c and c cage in it for my guinea pigs to be in.

Your set ups look lovely to me but I can totally understand that having had a huuuuge cage this is a backward step for you. At least they will soon have more space.

Love the cage set up. I wont show my piggies because they will be jealous. They have a 140cmx70cm cage and I hate it but it's all we have room for at the moment. So sorry to hear about the fall out, I read about it on another thread and no wonder you are upset.

I think it looks absolutely fab x
