Hi, when we collected our piggies as babies they were on a feed mix which included wheat bran and readi grass amongst other things. We’ve gradually transitioned them on to burgess excel mint pellets. We are expanding our group of pigs soon and I’m wondering if we could mix in these things alongside our usual burgess mint pellets, to bulk it out a bit?

There is no need to bulk it out. One tablespoon of pellets per pig per day is plenty.
Their main diet needs to be hay. If you overfeed any dry mix/pellets you run the risk of causing them to not eat enough hay (which risks dental and gut problems), and introducing too much calcium into the diet (which risks causing bladder stones).

Readigrass can be given a small amount as a bit of a treat.

Thank you. When looking into bulk buying pellets, how long can they be stored for?

They have a life of around six months once opened.
Whether bulk buying is worth it depends on how many piggies you are planning to have. I have three piggies (was four until earlier this year) and it took me six months to get through 2.5kg so bulk buying was never worth it for me!

Thanks again. We currently have 2 and are adding 2 more in the next month. That will be where we stop. Will monitor how long it takes us to go through things to start with!
