A few days ago I noticed my approx 1yo sow had one eye that looked slightly droopy and not as bright as normal. She was also sometimes only holding it about 3/4 open at times. I had a good look and couldn't see any obvious debris or hay poke. I figured maybe it was an early sign of infection. The following day it looked the same so I inspected again, and noticed this 'lump' under her lower eyelid.

It doesn't look like me to be the same as other imagines of fatty eye I've found on Google. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? She is otherwise behaving normally re eating etc and doesn't react as if it's obviously painful when I have examined her eye etc. I will of course book a vets appointment tomorrow when they open, but I'd be interested to what others may think this could be?

Hi and welcome

I would have the eye vet checked in case it is a conjunctivitis. The small purplish mass is a protruded tear gland which is popped out when the conjunctiva becomes swollen. Some antibiotic eye drops should hopefully sort it out.

It is always somewhat more difficult with piggies with darker skin but pea eye is generally the lower lid falling away from the eye towards the ear end and exposing healthy pink conjunctiva.
This here is my Tesni RIP with classic pea eye - she also had darker skin but the exposed conjuntiva was still light and pinkish.

Thanks Wiebke, I have made an appointment for tomorrow to get the eye checked, hopefully it will be easily sorted!

The vet has confirmed the conjunctiva are are a little inflamed. She thinks this is secondary to a small, shallow ulcer which showed up faintly with dye. We have a weeks course of antibiotic eye drops to use which should sort her out. Thanks for the help ☺
