Fatty eye? Hay poke?

My guinea pig in the past has been to the vets and they said fatty eye but it’s gotten bigger what do you guys think this is? Maybe hay poke? it’s very expensive to go to the vets :(

If you have a diagnosis of fatty eye, but it has got bigger, then please do go back to the vet for another check.

It can be worthwhile to save up a vet fund. Guinea pigs can be expensive pets and having money set aside in a separate account purely for vet fees can really help

Hi!

Please have your piggy seen for a protruded tear gland; this can happen on its own or as the result of a conjunctivitis or chlamydia. You vet may want to consider treating with antibiotic eye drops.

Fatty eye is simply the detachment of the lower eyelid. It is always light pink and smooth while protruded glands are purple and looking a bit like cauliflower.
