hello.
I hope I'm not reposting. with so many geat posts and answers it would take me ages to search through whether this has been covered . So i apologise if thats the case.

I am wanting to make couple of hideys out of the cadboard and personalise them with some fabric around.
Is it safe to use general craft glue to do so or even a glue gun?( is the glue safe once it dries out). and also is there any fabric that is not suitable to be in the cage?
Thank you:)

Hi, I'm unsure about using glu, maybe someone else can help with this ? As for using cardboard as the structure for a hidey, probably not a great idea to stick fabric to it, this will probably get soft and smelly quick so would be a waste of time. Cardboard is great for playtimes tho, just as it is, piggies love to play and chew it :) If you want to make something cosy, would recommend using anti pill polar fleece, piggies love this :)

I agree with Kimlou - If you're going to use fabric on the hideys, you'll need to be able to wash it,or you're going to end up having to throw it away one it's been used for a while - which is a bit of a waste of the fabric/money.

I've also never used any type of glue on piggy things so i'm afraid I can't help on that either

Cardboard boxes make great hiding places. Mine have one upsidedown so that the bottom is just their litter tray (newspaper and hay) which is cleaned regularly.

Anywhere that they spend any time they will wee so cardboard just gets all soggy :san:.

Lots of people use fleece. I have tried it but found that it gets covered in hay and wee in a surprisingly short time (I brush it and wash it in a zipped bag used for horse bedding). Soooo I would sew a fleecy hide thing for them. Lots of ideas on youtube for that. Good luck. Its so sweet seeing them enjoying cosy places x

i was actually thinking of bottomless ones but i agree with you after reading your comments . they will just get messy and used so i wont bother. will just used them on their own for now. i am going to make some fleecy things but need to get some wadding fabric over weekend first. and yes so much help and info online these days you just cant go wrong. thank you all:)

You may find this German step-by-step site with measurements helpful. I have both hand and machine sewn some of the things on it. However, I would recommend to use at least 4 layers of wadding. I also prefer to prewash my fleece; one at a higher temperature, so it keeps its shape once sewn.
