Hi, we are new to Guinea Pig ownership and need some help please! We have bought a new cage and wanting line it with something before adding the straw etc would fablon be ok or could this be toxic? Thankyou
It’s a good idea to line a wooden hutch to help extend its life. I have hutches (my piggies live in my shed) and I line them with correx.
I find that aa it is removable I can make sure everything gets properly cleaned with F10.
Anything which is adhesive might come unstuck due to urine etc.
Don’t use straw for guinea pigs - it can be too sharp and is not edible. They need hay as bedding. You will need something absorbent underneath the hay such as shavings.
I used an off cut of Lino as a base for a hutch many years ago. You would need to seal where it meets the hutch sides and back with silicone caulk so no urine gets underneath but it was very effective. Newspaper can be used as an absorbent base too
