We have an appointment at the vet next week. I want to know if anyone else has dealt with eyelid paralysis like this? I can't find anything like it online.

I haven't posted here for a few months...in February, my senior boar was diagnosed with an eye ulcer, and eyelid paralysis where he is unable to blink. The vet said he would need lubricating eye drops up to 4 times a day, or to remove the eye if it doesn't improve. He's been getting daily eyedrops ever since Februrary, and his eye has its good days and bad days. For about a week it's been getting more and more goopy (normal white cleaning fluid, along with yellow/green discharge) to where more than once a day the eye is almost covered in junk, and I have to wipe it away, and any dried junk that is draining onto his fur. He also has nasal congestion that has been treated twice, and the vet thinks we're going to need to do CT scans to see if something else is the problem since medication is not helping at all. This is an exotic vet we go to, and I do believe they know what they're doing. I have been 3 times to the vet to follow up on his eye issue, and thought he would be okay with eye drops daily, but now I'm wondering if this isn't enough and we should remove the eye.

This is his eye as of today. He has cataracts, so that's why his eye is white. This is after I cleaned his eye. You can see how it looks red in the corner. His other eye is normal (aside from a cataract). It almost looks like his eye is smaller too, but I can't 100% tell.

I can't tell if he is in pain. He doesn't like his face being cleaned, or receiving eye drops. Otherwise, all behavior is normal.

I’m sorry to hear about this - it sounds like you’ve done the best you can for him, but I’m going to tag @Wiebke for her input; I know she’s had experience with this kind of thing.

We went in for an emergency since it looked a LOT worse today. The vet said we ideally need to remove his eye. In the mean time, they got a culture from his eye so it can be tested to see what is causing this, if anything, so we can get different meds.

Well done for getting on to the vet quickly. Did they send you home with anything to ease the pain?
