Hi everyone,

Just looking for a bit of advice.

One of our guinea pigs toffeee, has been having these red puss that comes over her eyes. We did a bit of research and it shows that it might have been caused from a dirty cage which I'm not sure is true as we just cleaned the cage yesterday.

Toffeee only stays with her twin sister Dixxiee and have been doing so for 1 year+ so we doubt that Dixxiee has something to do with it. But Toffeee has been receiving this red puss that has happened before but was not as bold and red and would have just disappeared with in a couple of hours.

We were going to go to the vet but today is Good Friday and all the vets are closed (so ironic) but we are planning to go tomorrow if the swelling hasn't gone down as it sometimes goes in a couple of hours.

Thank you if you give any piece of advice. Currently we are giving her lots of cuddles and feeding her some grass and spinach her two favorite things!

Eyes need to be checked quickly and are classed as urgent. Prompt treatment can make all the difference to the outcome. All Uk vets provide 24/7 cover so even though it is a bank holiday, every vet will have an out of hours service so she can be seen today.

Hi everyone,

Here is the update about Toffeee whos eye had an infection!

So we took her to the vets and they gave her some eye drops and said that to put them in twice a day and that in a week it should have been gone!

Thank you everyone for your concern

Good for seeing a vet and getting antibiotic eyedrops from them. That should take care of any infection. ;)
