We have a guinea pig names jersey. She is 4monthes old. She has had eye issues since we got her. And no exotic vet where we live. So our family vet has been trying to help! First time she had crusty eyes and matted shut we got an ointment and some oral antibiotics seemed to help alot. Bit then we finished oral antibiotic and it has gotten bad again. So we got another dose of oral antibiotic. And its not helping! Her eyes are so crusty and so much discharge. Also her pupils are cloudy. Currently on oral antibiotic and ointment.... Could this be fungal and i need to try and treat w fungal eye drop? We have also flushed w eye wash. Thinking mayne hay poke... But it's both eyes .. also her her litter mate hasnt ever had any eye issue. So i dont think its contagious. As she always trys to help clean her eyes off for jersey. I need any suggestions! I'm currently trying to find exotic vet near us. I also know they produce white discharge for cleaning. She does do that alot as well. Her eyes look horrible i clean them alot thru out the day!

Did the vet check for hay under her eyelid or on her eye somewhere? Eye treatment is the same for all animals so any general vet should do.

If the pupil is cloudy then it could be damaged. Was she prescribed any antibiotic eye drops, or did she have just oral? Could you tell us what meds she was given each time?
I’ll put a link below to help you find an exotic.

She was given oral and an ointment. Ive looked in her eye to see if she has anything stuck i dont see anything. I called them this morning and i need to find somewhere near me that sees guinea pigs.

Would you be able to try another vet near you, even if they’re no experienced in treating Guinea pigs? I think they can put dye in the eye to check for damage? If it’s not getting better I’d have her seen sooner.

We go tomorrow to see a vet. I'm wondering if she has clogged tear ducs... Witch i would hate for her because its in both eyes. But i could be wrong! I do know antibiotics arent working. She has had 1 oral and has tried 3 different eye ointments. I hope we figure something out tomorrow.
