Hello! So this is my first thread because I just need answers to all these questions of mine, and Google searching is doing no good. I was just feeding my guinea pigs before bed per usual an hour or so ago and noticed my oldest guinea pig, Caramel, has some nasty discharge on one of her eyes, and when I would get a closer look when the eye was more open, the edges seemed swollen and red. It's so weird, because her eye was perfectly fine and healthy yesterday. She's eating and being her usual lazy self, but she's obviously in pain. I can't take her to the vet right now, as I have work early tomorrow morning. The earliest I can take her is around 10 AM or so, but I feel like it will get worse. Is there anything I can do to alleviate her symptoms for the time being, or maybe slow whatevers causing this? I would wipe away the discharge, but I'm scared that will irritate it more. Also, should I quarantine her from my other piggies for the time being? What could be causing this? Finally, will she be alright by the time I get to the vet? I just need to know whether or not this is life threatening and needs to be taken care of by a vet immediately.

Also, Itd probably help if I had a picture, but I don't know how to link those onto here, so if that could be explained too, it'd help!

Ah, figured it out! She was squirming a lot because she wanted to go back under her blanket, so this was the best I could do. The poor girl I just need to know if she's going to be okay for the next 10-12 hours20210104_231650.webp
