Back at the vets again with Tallulah's left eye, 3rd time this year! Another small eye ulcer and a bit of infection, not helped by Ollie's obsessive eye licking every time her eye is a bit watery... so now we have Isathal, Remend, and as a new addition Lubrithal and we might need to keep the Lubrithal long term to see if it helps stop her eye getting irritated then her scratching a hole in her cornea that Ollie licks until it gets infected...
Here is the eye of the hippo that is causing all the trouble, just this eye, which has now been inspected 8 times by 4 different vets at the practice in the last 5 months!

I sincerely hope that the lubrithal will help with the problem! It sounds like combo of gel and antibiotic?

Just read the leaflet, Lubrithal seems to be an extra lubricant gel with an ingredient that helps the eye surface retain moisture for longer, recommended for long term irritated or dry eyes. So the isathal is the antibiotic, the remend for helping corneal healing, then the lubrithal an additional lubricant we can use long term if needed to keep her eye comfortable and so hopefully keep her feet and Ollie's tongue from doing any more damage!

Aww I am so sorry to hear that you’ve had another visit to the vets with gorgeous Tallulah. I am sending well wishes for a speedy recovery. I love all the piggies here but I have a most definitely have a soft spot for her 🤗

If the problem recurrs even after doing extra eye lubrication daily I will be asking for some extra diagnostics, maybe an xray to check thete is nothing sinister at the back of the eye causing discomfort, and some eye gunk swabs to see if there is a persistent infection that needs oral antibiotics too... but hopefully it is just a dry irritated eye that she will scratch less if we keep it lubricated!
We're real piggy eyedrop pros now, we sing a song "eye of the hippo" to the tune of that rock ballad "eye of the tiger" while we are doing it. Tallulah is never very impressed by the singing, but she does like the after-eyedrop snacks, and Ollie gets a snack too for letting us abduct his wife hippo :)

2nd lot of eyedrops in! Tallulah goes in hippo prison for half an hour after each dose to stop Ollie licking the eyedrops off. She thinks we are very mean and doesnt think the half a baby corn she just ate was sufficient compensation at all... here is hippo sulking in prison and composing stern letters of complaint to the GPU and pooping in disapproval... might have to pick up some blueberries tomorrow...

Oh dear Tallulah these hoomans really don't understand that half a baby corn isn't nearly enough given the eye drops and the singing you're being subjected to 🙄 Paws crossed the new drops help x

Oh my word. She really does look like she’s having a major sulk in there, poor little hippo. Sorry that she’s still having trouble with that eye and her over attentive husboar.

She's not actually as sad as she looks that's actually.hippo sleep mode she never lies down lol just sleeps standing up with her head down and her ears over her eyes and rocks backwards and forwards :) all those hippo hugs and selfie photos with the trainee vet nurses who adore her must have been quite exhausting!

Aw poor little bat hippo! You need to go into piggy prison Tallulah so your eye gets better. Be a good girl for your singing slaves.

Oh no beautiful Tallulah. I really hope that this does the trick this time.
Poor hippo prison too! Haha ❤️

Oh poor Tallulah, first a sore eye and then piggy prison. I do hope your eye gets better soon and that the prison guards bring you plenty of treats.xx
