Hi there! I recently got my first guinea pig two days ago and recently I’ve notice her eye is squinted and basically half closed and she’s producing like a liquidy discharge from it. Yesterday she had a big greenish crust ball on her eye that I wiped off. I don’t know if I’m just overreacting or freaking out for no reason.

Please have her seen by a vet as soon as possible. She may have an eye injury such as hay poke or it could be sign of an upper respiratory infection. Either way she needs to see a vet today. If you got her from a pet store they should be responsible for the cost of treatment as you’ve not long since bought her.

Your piggy needs to be seen by a vet (preferrably one that specializes in guinea pig care) as soon as possible. Only a vet can tell you for sure what is wrong, but it definitely sounds like something that needs vet attention.

Please get your piggy seen by a vet ASAP, in the next 24 hours- eye conditions can worsen very rapidly and the sooner she gets diagnosis and treatment the more chance of a good outcome.

I hope you can get your piggy seen soon. Eye treatment is the same for all animals so she can be seen by any vet.

As an aside, does she have a friend or will you be getting her one? All the best.

I got her from petco would they be able to help her or at least pay? Just something?

Petco will likely cover the cost of vet fees since you recently got your piggy. You would need to call the Petco where you purchased your piggy for specifics. Petco may want to use a vet of their choosing and require you to return your piggy and repurchase it once they are better.

:agr:

:agr: If whatever it is can be treated at home I would try and opt for that. I think sometimes they suggest they stay at the vets for some length of time, while being treated. Good luck.
