Hey everyone...So, my piggie got a little too close to his hay I think. Very slight irritation in the eye. I have not done anything to his eye, just gonna say that right now. I bought some eye drops and the active ingredient is Tetrahydrozoline HCI 0.05% and the inactive ingredients are benzalkonium, chloride, boric acid, edetate disodium, purified water, sodium borate, and sodium chloride. I live in America so most won't know the brand but it's from a store called Dollar General. If this is not okay, is flushing with water or wound wash (Basically saline)...as we have plenty of that around due to the fact that my mom needs it. When it comes to a vet, I'm trying to avoid it if I can....I have vet bills up to my neck due to the fact that my dog was sick....so money is a bit tight when it comes to the animals this month. :(

Just don't want anything going wrong if I use this stuff on my little guy. He's getting older and I don't want him in more pain.

I’m afraid you need to get your piggy seen. Eye treatment is the same for all animals so you can take him a general vet. Perhaps you could borrow money from your mum, relative or friend?

:agr: Any haypoke needs to be seen by a vet. Eyes are classed as urgent and should be seen within 24 hours as they can deteriorate quickly. The vet will need to use a dye in the eye to check for any injury or ulceration. If this has occurred, the you’ll need prescribed antibiotics eye drops and pain relief for your piggy.

No, but I have good news, his eye is back to normal and bright again when I checked him this morning!

His eye has returned back to normal this morning. All is well!

I would get it checked out anyway, just to be sure there's no hay stuck in the eye.
