Hi.
I am writing from Turkiye.
My guinea pig has been with me for 2 years, and it has a morphological difference since it came to me. I read that normally they have 3 finger on hind feet, but mine has 4. And it is not looking strong at all.
I had searched before, but this time, i came across this forum for the first time and wanted to write in case anyone knows.
This difference doesn't bloking its movements, but it looks like it could break at any moment. But i am wondering that is this serious.
If there is someone who interests, i want to contact with 😇

This is called polydactyly. It is something which sometimes happens. It is not serious.

The extra toes aren’t harmful and can be left as they are if they are not causing any issues.
Some times they do need to be removed by a vet if they are causing issues

Hi and welcome

An extra toe on the back foot is called polydactyly (many toes). It is not an illness but a genetic condition that appears occasionally in guinea pigs.

The additional toe is usually only loosely attached and should ideally be removed by a vet. It is not a big procedure but it should not be done at home.
