Hiya!

Okay from the outside

We have cut a square shaped hole where the entrance to the ramp meets the actual ramp. Here is one of the holes cut into the grids from the inside of the cage

Each ramp opens right up for easy cleaning.

Photos to follow of the opened up ramps

As you can see I have newspaper at the bottom of the ramp which I change every day. The rest is vet bed for grip. I attach it via holes in the vetbed and through the corrext with twisty ties

Then every 3 days when I do a big clean out I change the ramp lining.

It has added huge space to the cages, they have so much space in there it's brilliant!

I hope that makes sense.....

Haha! Nice spot of reading for the piggies there Lisa ;)

I love that you made external ramps. Frees up so much floorspace!

xx

I have just had to run and check one of my cages to check that Mango is still there .... only your brown and ginger piggie is her absolute double! They could be clones!

These photos are great, thanks Lisajazz. Could I ask just a couple of questions:

are the ramps made purely of correx with no other support?

do you just attach the ramps to the cage with cable ties?

Thanks so much for this. I love your set up and the external ramps would give so much more room.

do you find they use the ramp much?

I've used a variety of ramps, and even C & C steps for my second levels, and always find my piggies are fussy - some take to them really well, others never never use them

They ALL use the ramps all the time. I have 2 cages - 3 ramps in total and every single guinea pig uses them all the time.

I have taken some more photos of it attaching to the cage and also the supports on the cage to make it sturdy. I will sort them out on photobucket later on.

Sorry to have taken so long but I finally have photos to help.

This is how it attaches to the correx boxes

We did cabletie it before BUT Orson likes to pee in there and it wasn't watertight. So its been changed and has been glued into the box and then glue from the glue gun is sealing every seam to make sure it's pee tight (hence the newspaper in there that gets changed every day)

It is all made from Correx but we did toy with square guttering but hubby is handy and likes a challenge so he made it himself after alot of measuring and thinking and one failed attempt.
