I have an 8x2 C&C cage with a 2x2 loft. I currently have 5 sows living in there, but as Snowy has now been neutered, I want to expand. I don't think the cage is big enough for a boar as well, especially when they are fully grown.

I cannot expand lengthways as the cage is between walls, but I can extend outwards. But...

Would the cage corners be difficult to clean with three grids deep?

I can get Antinox sheets (and double them up if necessary) to create a new base, and I have the two spare grids to do it.

Any ideas?

What if you only extend the ends by one grid, but keep the middle only 2 deep?
So 3-4 grids on each end, 8 along the wall. Then instead of a standard rectangle, you put 1-2 grids along the front side, and then go back in towards the back by the "extra" number of grids, so you have 4-6 grids and then build out again to join the other side.

No idea if that makes sense lol.
Basically the same as a 4x2 (or 3x2) on each end with the 2 facing you and the length heading away from you, and a 4x2 side on joining the two. But all open in the cage to make one big cage. (Like an upside down u shape sort of.
(Gah, I keep typig the letter U and it saves it as You even though it shows the letter in edit mode!)

I only have two spare grids. Any idea where I can get others from? The C&C cage site are expensive delivery charges for several grids alone

I like your idea GPcrazy

I bought tons of cheap plastic grids from Amazon.

I have a 3 grid deep cage. It's not the easiest to clean, so I have crocs to use to step into the cage and clean, but I use bedding. It would be easier with fleece.

I can only add more grids on one side, so it would be 8 grids along one wall, and 2 grids one end stepping out to 3 grids two grids down because of a radiator. Think of a rather blunt L shape.

The cage is on a table, not the floor.

You could always use the 2x2 loft grids to rather extend the base. So no loft but a bigger main cage.
I can't help with where to buy grids unfortunately, wrong country...

Really. Where? LInk would be good.

Can't you using wood to keep the C&C grids stable, make an opening front. Go onto the Housing & Enrichment forum.
Then on the Members Gallery.
It is about the 8th one down.
