Hi,

So I currently have the Midwest guinea pig cage. Because of space issues, I can’t add another cage and expand horizontally. I know guinea pigs prefer more horizontal space. But I was wondering if there is anyway I could expand vertically at all, even just a raised hidey or something. Any ideas would be appreciated!

You could add a loft area somehow, though I’m not entirely sure how you’d do that with a Midwest...an issue you may come across is that your piggies don’t like ramps. Is the cage the minimum recommended size at least? And are they boys or girls?

Yes and girls. I just wanted to give them more room.

You could try using one of those indoor cages, the smaller ones you can get from pets at home. If you took a panel off them, and lined it up with the door in the Midwest, as the Midwest has ramps so they can come in and out, it probably wouldn't be as big or long as a second Midwest hutch, but adds a bit more space and could be used as a nice hay box! :)

I have a midwest cage and I'm expanding next week by shaping 2 in to a L. Because the midwest cage is a little flimsy I wouldn't recommend building a loft or second level.
