Does anyone know of any exotic vets or specialist vets in Kent?

My vets are quoting from £300 to possibly £450 for test on my boar. (He is not eating, he taking cc)

That does sound expensive. What is the test that your vet is wanting to carry out? Have you had a look at our vet locator to see if any of the vets on the list are within reaching distance? Recommended Guinea Pig Vets Good luck x
There are a few other vets in the town. I have him booked in at another one for Thursday and they seem like they might be able to do something and not cost as much. They can carry out work the same day.

I hate the fact that it has come to be about money.

They said they could do the gas and check for £65 but if he need work than £335 up to £450. But if it is not dental then blood test ect and

I’m not sure whereabouts you are in Kent. I use Putlands in Paddock Wood.

Hope al goes well for your boy on Thursday.

That would be too much of a trek for you! Have a look on the list of recommended and see if there’s one nearer. Or search for vets and see which mention small pet care.

The one I'm going to on Thursday the vet is a guinea pig vet and they have the facilities to do something there and then.

Thank you

It's with a heavy heart I had to have Jack put to sleep. 😭

The vets was lovely and so understanding.

He had a a mass on the side of his face caused by his back teeth She looked at his teeth and straight away said what the problem was.

She gave me option but said his quality of life wouldn't be the same and he could always be in pain. Plus I would need to take him back every 6 weeks to have his teeth done. And there was no guarantee he would eat again.

Once he was at peace she had a look and his back teeth was growing over his tongue at the back.

Aw I’m so sorry 😞 My late Enoch had back teeth growing over his tongue. He had a dental but vet said it was genetic as he was so young and he would need regular dentals for the rest of his life. He never recovered properly and we couldn’t put him through that every few weeks and he absolutely hated being syringe fed. We made the decision to help him over the bridge and it was one of the most heartbreaking decisions I’ve ever had to make 😞 (((hugs))) x

Thank you so much.

It was so horrible making the decision but I know it was for the best. Jack was only 2 but I know I gave he the best life.

Now to make sure my other boar will be okay.

I am very sorry that Jack was so young, it sounds like my Enoch who was only 2-3 :( You absolutely made the kindest decision. I hope his cage mate is ok x
