Morning everyone, I am new to the forum and also a new piggy Mum to two adopted boys, Stan (Dad) and Squirrel (son) from Mandy's guinea pig rescue near Wimborne, they are 3 and 2 and were both taken to the vets just before we adopted for a check up. I would like to register with a vet in advance and I wondered if anyone had experience with Vetsmiths in Wimborne or Hillside at Corfe Mullen, I have used both before and have been great and I know if I phoned they would probably tell me they are great with guinea pigs but it's always nice to have some experience so that I know they genuinely do work with piggies. Thank you in advance. I did check the vet list and search the forum but couldn't find any reference before I put my post up.

I have mine registered with The Pet Health Partnership in Upton which was recommended by Mandy's Guinea Pig Rescue. I was told they are not guinea pig specialists but are very good with guinea pigs and are willing to learn. I have only been there once with Bramble who had was diagnosed with lice which was treated with Xeno.

Hi, we live in a rural location central to Wimborne one way, Salisbury the other, Blandford the other and Shaftesbury the other. I worked out that if we had to make a dash to the vet that probably Wimborne would be the easiest as sometimes time is so important. Thank you very much for the recommendation and hello to a fellow adoptee from Mandy's and it's lovely to know another local guinea pig owner :)

I'm not in Wiltshire, just wanted to welcome you to the forum and the wonderful world of guinea pigs.

Thank you that's kind. I am still a bit anxious to say the least as it's a huge learning curve but thanks to Guinea Pig magazine and some amazing You Tubers - Squeak Dreams is super helpful and of course the support of the rescue we are doing pretty good.

This Forum is the best place for piggy advice. There are lots of helpful bits of info in this for you to read.

thank you for the guides, I will go and do my homework and for the vet investigations

My friend said that the vet with interest in Exotics has gone to Vets4Pets in Dorchester. His name is Jordan and my friend said he is brilliant.

Good morning - I did my investigation with Vetsmiths in Wimborne and please could they be considered for adding to to the exotic vets list. I started speaking to Anita on reception who was lovely and advised they have lots of piggies they look after. Both Chris and Lorna see the piggies and I spoke with vet Lorna on the phone who was great. I have registered both the piggies with them and they emailed me back which was super. Please could mods look at adding Vetsmiths to the vet list for Wimborne. They have good parking, good opening hours and were super lovely when Bumble my hamster had to be PTS, everyone very sympathetic and respectful.
