When I first got my pigs I made a large C&C cage for them, but recently I got a dog, and, because of my fear that the dog would eat my pigs, I got a new store bought cage for them that has a lid. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for ways that I could "exercise" my piggies, because I couldn't stand to have them just sitting around getting plumper. I often take them out for playtime, but they tend to sit in one place until I bribe them with food, and of course that isn't helping anything. Thank you so much for your time xx>>>

You could get a run - some indoor runs have lids or mesh protectors. Or you could give them some free range time on the floor, and just remove your dog from the room while they play :-) piggies are inquisitive creatures and will want to explore! Of course make sure you block off anywhere they could get stuck or anywhere with dangerous wires, cables, sharp bits etc.

Could you make a stand and a lid for your C&C cage? How big is your dog?

Wire closet shelves from Home Depot makes great lids. If you get the 16" deep ones, it will have some overhang on the front of the cage so it won't fall into the cage. They can cut it to the length of your cage.

Thank you for your ideas, that cage looks like a piggy paradise!

I think I am going to try to "piggy proof" a room. Thank you!
