I'm getting a new 3 tier hutch today for my Birthday! B'day was last weekend but this evening is delivery day of my pressie!

Will post pictures when it comes! :))

Does it have ramps? Only I want to build a two storey hutch with ramps, but my dad says that if a guinea pig has never seen a ramp before they won't climb up one. If your piggies have never seen a ramp before, do you think they will climb it?

it might take them a while to get used to it, but guinea pigs can easily use ramps as long as they're not too steep and the surface is easy for their feet to grip on to.

Try sticking some old carpet on the ramp - they prefer to climb up something they can grip. you can buy cheap door mats from about 99p that can be cut up to use.

NO HUTCH

Apparently the delivery guy broke down on his way to us... so annoyed as I've been looking forward to it for weeks!

My girls have never seen a ramp so not sure what they'll make of it. 3 are <1 year old so hopefully they'll be scampering up and down and showing the oldies how it’s done!

I'm hoping to tempt them with food if they don't seem interested but will be sure to let everyone know how I get on if it ever arrives!

Hurray hurray hurray!

My new hutch was just delivered at 11pm tonight! It looks very well made and sturdy - not sure if the ramps will be a bit steep tho @).

I've made it up tonight all ready for the girlies in the morning so they can get used to it tomorrow in the day... I'll post pictures and let you all know how they get on (or not... ?!?) with the ramps!

Its the 4ft Deluxe Maisonette Three Storey Rabbit Hutch at http://www.rabbithutchwarehouse.co.uk/hutches.php

Will post my own pictures when I get home tonight.

I tacked some extra wooden lats onto the ramps this morning between the exisitng ones and one of my girls Winnie made it up to the 2nd level quite easily following a grass trail! Not sure if the others will all still be on the bottom level when I get home tho!

Here are some pictures of my new hutch and the girlies in it!

In the big pic I hadn't finished setting it up yet - rest assured they now all have food and water on every level.

They've done amazingly well with the ramps. I've had to tack some bamboo cane lats between the ones provided as they were spaced too far apart, but with some grass to encourage them all the girls have made it up one level, and the little ones have gone all the way to they top completely on their own to explore.

Hopefully it'll become second nature to them all rather than the necessary evil the older girls seem to consider it!

I also got a good video of Pepper munching her way up the ramp - but I'm not quite advanced enough to post it - maybe I'll figure it out later...!
