I am concerned about my piggie Stanley who appears to be drinking (300 ml per day) and subsequently weeing excessively. He is doing everything normally, his weight is stable and his wee looks normal to the human eye. He shows no discomfort in passing urine

My instinct would be to take him to the vet but I think that would be inconclusive without a blood test requiring the risks associated with sedation

I took him three weeks ago with a suspected respiratory infection which cleared within 12 hours and I now believe was dust in the airway. I do get overtly concerned about my piggies health at times

What would you do in this situation? I would appreciate your comments

Has the weather turned hotter?
Is this a considerable change from his normal drinking?

It’s definitely hotter and I have observed water dripping from the bottle when he drinks. He drinks quickly and yanks the nozzle. The 300ml would include this water lost and and Ronnies intake. It’s only come to my notice in the last three weeks as I have 6 boys so hearing a piggie drinking is a usual occurrence and although I check occasionally to monitor who is drinking I haven’t been overtly checking

I’ve changed the bottle and adjusted the cable ties to no avail but there is definitely water wastage when Stanley drinks. I am certain that he is visiting the water bottle more frequently

Please put a drip dish under the bottle to get a better idea of the leakage; some piggies are very messy drinkers.

As long as the weight is stable I would not worry as piggies often drink more in warm weather; especially around a heat spike or after a marked change in weather.

If you are really worried, please see a vet.

I have tried a drip tray but the boys move it out of the way 🤪.
