You know when you're at a parking machine and you have some spare cash to feed it? Sometimes it doesn't want to eat your coins and rejects them. Well the solution to this is to rub the offending coin that the machine has spat out on the side of the machine a few times and then it gets swallowed! I know it seems incredible but it really works.

The parking meters in my city have screens on them and you type in your license plate number and pay with credit card. I definitely miss just putting coins in.

That also works on fruit machines lol.

We were hoping to start having days out again but having tried to park a couple of times with no smart phones, no public toilets open and vans not allowed in car parks we have given up. It's hard to enjoy a day out when it's one hassle after another. The insurance on the van was so high this year my OH has decided this is his last year driving. We only drive to the vets or he drops me off at the station to go to my daughter so it will be cheaper to use taxis.

Insurance in Michigan is some of the highest in the US. But we have terrible public transportation. Buses don't even come out where I live. Don't even talk about subways: nonexistent in my city. You simply have to have a car. That puts low income people at a huge disadvantage because if they do live by buses, sometimes the wait is a half hour or more. It just highlights the huge inequality we have in the states. And how we treat the environment.

Things seem to be much more complicated these days unfortunately.
