Don't know if this has been raised before on the forum. I recently visited Pets at Home and saw they were selling a new range which included a eucalyptus treat marketed at guinea pigs. I know the people in the actual shop will do nothing so emailed through their website saying I believed it wasn't safe, including an online research article saying it wasn't safe and asked what research they had done before marketing it for piggys and how they had come to that decision.
Thought you might be interested in the reply I got this morning:
Further to your recent e mail regarding Woodlands Eucalyptus Sticks for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and Hamsters 80gm.
Although we believe the product to be safe, we are aware of differing opinions regarding the merits of eucalyptus as an ingredient in small animal treats, so we have decided to err on the side of caution and stop selling them.
I wish to assure you that again that our main priority at Pets at Home is the welfare of all pets, both in store and those that belong to our customers.
