Esme usually hovers around the 1180g - 1230g mark before breakfast but for the last few mornings, she’s been hovering around the 1140g mark before breakfast. Ella and Elizabeth haven’t lost weight and have in fact, gained.

She’s still squeaking for her breakfast and dinner veg and gobbles it up and I’ve seen her eat pellets and hay but when should I worry? I always stress out when this happens 😞

Can I ask Claire, you say for the last few mornings …. Are you weighing her daily? If so, why? Was there a reason you were concerned about her before now for you to have been doing daily weight checks?
I weighed her on Thursday as part of the the weekly health checks and she’d lost nearly 50g from the week before so I’ve been weighing her daily since Thursday

Ok that helps with the background.
If she has lost 50g then that is when you switch to daily - so you’ve done right. If the weight loss continues the next day and it is now more than 50g then you need to look to step in and book a vet appointment if it is continuing

Weight - Monitoring and Management

Esme is a bit overweight for her size. Please keep in mind that those piggies will initially drop weight quite quickly and further as their yellow fat build-up around the major organs is the first thing to melt away (and preferably not come back on again).

See a vet if this trend continues. The other two putting on weight instead is normal when one piggy stops eating as much.

Brilliant, thank you both. I’ve just checked her poos and they’re thankfully at least normal.

I’ll keep an eye on her over the next few days and see a vet if the trend continues which I’m very much hoping it won’t 😞 x
