One of my guinea pigs keeps escaping from his cage! I’m not sure how as there is nothing near the edges of the cage that he can climb on to get out unless he is jumping. I’m looking to get a new cage - a 5x2 C and c cage with a loft but my pigs are only 12 weeks old at the moment and if one can already escape when he’s not even full sized yet I’m worried he’ll be able to escape from a c and c cage too. Anyone else had this problem? Any tips?

My Little Dude used to run straight through the gaps in the run, and he looked twice the size of the gap. You could try putting cardboard round the bottom to stop him getting out.

My youngest boy currently weighs 500 grams and he's still able to escape the C&C cage if he wants. I cover the lower part of the grids, 2 or 3 lines. It has solved the problem.

If you are able to post a photo of your current cage then we might be able to offer more help.
If we can see the set up members may have had a similar problem and have some ideas.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I’ve added some cardboard around the bottom part of the cage - Sprout usually escapes at night so tonight will be the test to see if it works!
