Hello. This morning I heard some clanging of bars when I was just waking up. I looked over at the cage and there Peanut was moving the bars and escaping into Pumpkins side. We tied the bars with kitchen string and secured it with tape, but somehow, Peanut was able to chew through all of that and get to the other side. Right as he got in there was a massive fight and I didn’t have any protective things on me to break it up quick enough and Peanut bit him again on the bum. I honestly don’t know what to do at this point, I’ve tried so many things to keep them apart but Peanut got through all of them. It’s not safe for Pumpkin to live like this, and I’m also wondering if something is to worry about Peanut. He seems so eager to get back into Pumpkins side yet all he does is bite and fight with him. He goes too all lengths to see him but they don’t even get along. He chews the bars violently and yanks them to try to get the string loose and then climbs up and chews the string further. Does anyone have any advice to keep them apart?

I would suggest using cable ties rather than string.
If he still manages to break through, then it may be best to have him in a commercial cage as he won’t be able to escape that by pushing bars away.

:agr: If they’re in a c&c then use the connectors as well as the cable ties. Plenty of the latter. It might also be a good idea to cover the divider to give Peanut time to calm down. Hopefully you can then remove it in a short while. Peanut doesn’t want to be with Pumpkin, he wants to go for him. Remember that when you separate, you always go by the under pig’s behaviour as to whether the bond works.
