We have had two girls for about two months. One is calm and easy to handle. The other (I believe at least part Abyssinian) is rather more volatile - she is very vocal (all the time), jumps around all over the place when handled and is prone to bite (though will eventually settle down on some people, on her own terms). My husband kept guinea pigs in his youth and is surprised at how erratic she is. Any tips gratefully received.

It may just be her character and she feels comfortable enough to let you know she doesn’t want to be handled - of course you have to do it for the weekly health check.

I would do things on her terms. If she appears to prefer interacting with you while in the cage then keep it to that. Two months is still also a short time. Some take years to become relatively comfortable with you. Enjoy her chatty and energetic nature 🙂
