emergency syringe feeding help

It is a good sign that she is pooping - it means her system is still working.

Get as much feed into her during the day as you can so that you can get some unbroken sleep tonight. Do a last feed late tonight and then sleep, then do another feed first thing tomorrow morning

Fingers crossed for her and you
i thought so!

okay i will try my hardest! i know its 40ml minimum at the very least which has proven hard enough but iv nearly managed it in a 12 hour space so hopefully can do the same tomorrow… i might try her on grass but shes not had any recently i didnt want to shock her…

thankyou❤️

I am so glad that she has made it through the night and that there are poops, which means that the gut is still working and the body is not closing down. :tu:

Brace for there being less and funny poos that reflect the reduced food intake as it takes 1-2 days for any food to get from the mouth to the anus, so the poo output is always lagging behind events.

Hang on in there and persist. Please make sure that you have a period of 6 hours for your own sleep and only feed during that time if you happen to wake up. The first rule of intensive round the clock care that is running on for more than one or a few nights is that you need to look after yourself - who will care for your piggy when you are too exhausted? It's a tough but important lesson. Feeding a struggling piggy is unfortunately very time consuming and draining. :(

update! for far we’ve managed to feed 19ml of the supplement food since our first feed at 8pm🫶 della has eaten a sprig of corriander and a little lettuce so hopefully this is a good sign🥰

If she is taking a little fresh food and swallowing it, then her appetite is not totally gone and her body is not closing down. She is still fighting. :tu:

me too🥰 bless her heart she is a fighter always has been!

of course, yes i will try to get some sleep tonight i just hope she starts eating today!

just made her morning batch of food, decided to put in a handful of oat hay and shes just started to eat the hay again just before i took her out, i am crying happy tears🥹🥹

Great news. :yahoo:

I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed that she continues to regain her appetite and to recover.

I hope you had a good block of sleep last night. Sending you a big virtual hug.

How are you & lovely Della this morning?

also guys just wondering when does the 24 hours start?
I counted the 24hrs from midnight, or from when we started any food in the early morning, until I went to bed. I don’t think it really matters, when you start counting from.

I think it depends on your routines. I count from the first feeding in the morning. If I syringe a pig thats not eating any hay/very little hay I syringe every five hours.

Hope you and Della are okay this morning ❤️
