okay, i am currently working on remodeling the C&C cage i just built yesterday, adding a top to it. i have the shelving to make the lids, but I'm having major issues keeping the middle stable.

i have 3 2x4 pieces of wood, but they just sag back down at the joints. my cage is 3x6 panels which are 14 inches each. what do you guys use for the middle? should i use the connectors, or zip ties?

Use lots and lots of zip ties. If you have 2x2 wood (1.5 x 1.5 inches), it would make a nice support too as it can slide into the hole in the grid.

I can't help with the C&C advice I'm sorry as I've not constructed a multilevel one before but I'm posting to ask you not to put Emergency in your post titles unless it is an actual emergency, many thanks.

Sorry, but it kind of was an emergency...to me anyways. I didn't have a backup cage to keep my little guys in, just the tub with some towels in it. But i understand what you mean.

I did finally finish it, ended up just using lots of zipties to close the gap, so now i have two working lids and theres no gaps big enough for my cats to get in. will post pictures shortly.
