they certainly are but 3' run or 1m as they say isnt long enough for 2 piggies really - I as told 4' minimum for 2, 5' for 3 so would have to go for the rabbit 2m size. I dont think they are very fox proof either, have know ducks being attacked in similar plastic pens really easily.

Ive got one. Planning on using it as the girls daytime house while I'm at work they can enjoy the outside/grass. I love it. Just a bit pricey to be honest. I'm planning on getting a run extention. Although I think the usual piggie run is plenty big enough for 2-3 pigs in the day, I'm thinking 5-7 (or of course possibly more by then :))) need a bit more space. I think they are fox proof, although i guess others dont agree. Ive got foxes in the area and never had any problems.

You'll probably get mixed reactions about these, but I like them. Although maybe not as a permenant home.

If they weren't so expensive (some going for £200 + on ebay second hand :o ) I'd love one that I cold use as a run so my pigs could play out all day in the summer.

Alas, they're a little expensive so my lot will have to make do with eveing playtime instead for now :)

Abi, just saw your post and now I'm jealous! :))

i don't like the idea of the plastic. I think you'd be better off spending the money on something bigger and cheaper. I think they're just appealing the the eye and not as practical for the animal x

Personally I would NEVER use them for piggies :(

I've known of several pairs of piggies who have had very serious health issues which only appeared after being housed in an eglu - a pair of boys that I rehomed died after being put in one.............

They are far too hot in the summer and condensate badly in the winter - major risk of heat exhaustion and pneumonia - nowhere near enough ventilation when the piggies are shut inside

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - consider something else...........

I've never had one, but according to the website they are guaranteed fox proof and stay cool in summer and warm in winter because they have a double layer to insulate or something.

If they weren't so expensive I'd get them (the bigger ones, not the piggy one) cos they'd last forever and be a lot cleaner.

Personally I don`t like them, think they are very overpriced.

My three girls live in the rabbit sized one and the run is two meters. They have more than enough space. I admit though that the guinea pig one is too small and the run is only one meter.

The only problem I have had with the eglu is that the girls tend to shove hay in the door so it can be hard to close sometimes.

But over all, it is great for them. It is also fox proof so it is very secure.

Some very interesting opinions here thanks :)

I like the principal of them but have to agree they are very overpriced for what they are!

Claire what do you think of the chicken one? Is it actually fox proof? We have been planning on getting one with chickens for about 2 years (we now have a garden yay!) just wanted to see what your/your parents opinions are first

Hi Lady Kelly

My parents have had their chickens for nearly three years now and think the eglu for chickens is fantastic - hence my curiosity about the rabbit one.

They do get a fair few foxes in their garden as all the gardens in their road back onto each other and are all very large (most around 200ft)

They have never had a problem with foxes and the chickens have always been fine both in the run and when shut away for the night so I would say that yes they are pretty fox proof :)

Excellent thanks, always good to hear that from someone who has one. Can't wait to get one in the summer

Personally, I think they are too small for any animal, but that's just me. They seem a lot of money for something you can get something similar for much cheaper.

I would echo this.

They are overpriced for something that is effectively an oven to cook your pets in. Yes, despite what they say they get RIDICULOUSLY hot in hot weather, shade or no shade. If you're in any doubt about whether they're fox proof or not, my (almost) 3 year old was able to up-end one.

The bit about making your pigs more affectionate makes me laugh. They're probably more affectionate because you'd have to take them right out before you can get anywhere near them.

Nothing is fox proof, if they are hungry and have the urge to get in, be sure that they will. Far to hot for summer. And yes, we have 9 at school for chickens !
