Hello,
Curious to fund these cuts/splits in my boys ear, only in this one spot. I put coconut oil on it in case it is a fungus.
Any ideas? Should I go right to the vet?
Thank you.

Hi
Sometimes guinea pigs can have rips in their ears from old fights in which another pig had bitten their ear (my Daisy has some as she was housed with many females at the rescue). If the ear or has just suddenly appeared or looks sore or inflamed and your piggy is in discomfort, please have him seen by a vet. Otherwise if it looks healed and is causing no pain, I wouldn't worry about it. We wouldn't recommend home treatment.
Hope this helps, more experienced members will be along later.

If it’s something which is old then you don’t need to be concerned.
if it’s a new thing then if would be wise to look further into it - medically first and then whether your piggies are fighting.
Do note, that if any issue is potentially fungal, then using coconut oil won’t help. You need to see a vet and get the correct treatment

Thank you for the information. The area is not infected or inflamed.
