I bought an edible house from Pets at home for our guinea pigs, we have had it just over a month and they have totaly destroyed the top, they keep pulling some off and more seems to come off at the same time, I was hoping it might last a bit longer, but am now wondering how i can repair it, any suggestions what i can put on the top to give them some cover?
Dont really want to buy a new house so soon.

Lol this is how piggies are! I use a lot of cardboard boxes as they are easily thrown away if ruined. You can always add hay on the top and they will enjoy eating that too.:))

Thatch it with hay! :)):))

I had to stop buying grass hideys and houses, my lot would pretty much demolish it by the end of the day, it was getting very expensive! :))

My two do the exact same thing, I have that house too, not quite at the stage yet but give it time, and the roof will be gone lol

A similar thing happened to me with the Roll a Nest. It's a really lovely looking thing, isn't cheap and I ended up buying another one and each time within about three weeks the whole thing comes apart, just unravels. It's a shame, wish they could just resist. :^-

Thanks for all the suggestions, think they hay wouldnt last long, but agree they would love it!
It is a shame though as it was a lovely looking house, and nice and big for both of them to use.

I bought this too and had the same problem. Have kept the base hoping I can think of a good use for it rolleyes Probably end up stuffing it with hay or something for the piggies as they are too fat to fit under the door now :))
Not cheap either, think it was around the £12 mark :{

I thought about using a large peice of card, cut it into a cone and just sitting it on top, I think my roof will soon be gone lol

It's not ruined, its a sky light! :))

This is why i no longer bother buying things, I just bring home the empty printer paper boxes from work, cut a hole in either end and they sleep under them, on top etc etc :)

I am the same, anything I bought got destroyed or ignored. Now she has all the toilet roll tubes she can eat and is still just as happy (if not more!) to nibble them and even takes them to bed with her :))

Well have fixed it for now, bought some wilow sticks from pets at home and have secured them, so far they havent tried to eat them! want to add more at a later date to be a bit more cover for them.
