My boars keep eating the correx. Gilbert is the worst for it and I often place my hand in front of him to stop him or say his name sternly and stare until he backs down.
If I'm around he will stop but when I am not they just continue eating it. I have a lot of eaten correx and I'm wondering a few things

1) can it do any harm to guinea pigs
2) how to stop the guinea pigs from eating it
3) What can I do about it?

My boys have been eating it for years with no ill effects, some of them have eaten it right down to the base! Boars are crazy, and sneaky too, they will stop if you tell them off, but start again as soon as you leave the room! :))

Using a fleece cage liner means the corex is covered by fleece so they cant get to it, this stops them chewing :)

Whats a cage fleece liner? I was using fleece originally for their cage but switched back last week to a different bedding. Is it different to the bedding itself?

I did, the girls pulled it down and carried on chewing :p:))

Never done mine any harm - some of it is now down to the base, waiting to see what happens next rolleyes

One night without hay (I was a very naughty piggie slave and didn't realize we were out before it was too late) Betsy with help from her friends had fully eaten a good chunck of their cage mallethead. Ok piggies I get the idea punishment comes to those who don't provide hay. They were all fine after though.

It is fleece, with a matress protector sewn in, but the fleece hooks over the sides of the corex so it is all covered.

I've just had to replace a bit at the top of the ramp as they cleared a huge area and I was worried about their little feet on the wire... they have already started devouring it again mallethead no stopping them lol

My naughty boars are also correx chewers but I have outwitted them by sliding plastic strips onto the edge of the correx. I bought them from Staples & they are the plastic strips used to put on the bottom & top of posters to hang them up on the wall (smaller ones are used as spines for loose papers.) I got the longest ones which are 98cm & come in a pack of 2 strips for £1.99. The piggies don't seem to be able to bite them as they are smooth & slippy.

I've tried a lot to stop them including fleece over the sides, pinning fleece down (because they ripped it off and continued eating) with clips but they still manage to get to it somehow.

Just as I'm typing Gilbert chewed off some, took a drink and swallowed it. I've stopped him but I can't be down here 24/7 x.x
