early riser!

My 2 year old boar has decided he is an early riser. Usually between 5 and 6, but now it is 4am! If the door is shut on his cage he chews the bars until he gets some lush food. If they are open he comes out and wheeks loudly or chews the door frame until he is fed.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can encourage him to sleep a bit longer?

I love him dearly, but am very tired.

Can you cover his cage with a fleece over night so that it is dark?

Do you think it would be ok to do that? I was worried about upsetting him (he is alpha of the house!) or that he wouldn't get enough air?!?

Not if you leave a small slit and wet the towel on hot nights so the evaporating water helps cooling down the cage. I found that my lot enjoyed the darkness.

I cover my girls every night so they know its bedtime, they don't get up until I uncover them on a morning!

Thanks for your advice! We bought a lovely blue fleece for Parker's cage and he and we have had good long sleeps over the weekend.

He is going for an op to be neutered this week:...,and all going well he should also have a wife or two as well as his lovely blue fleece in a few weeks!
