Pippy & Daisy
Junior Guinea Pig
Hi everyone,
My girls are sisters from the same litter so they're very well bonded and I've never had any trouble with them not getting along - occasionally they rub noses and it looks like a dominance sort of thing but that's as far as it goes. They love napping together and they're very good (well, kind of good!) at sharing, so I'm 100% confident that there's no problems between them. However, I've recently noticed something I've never seen before - ear licking. Is it normal? I noticed the other day that Daisy seemed to be licking Pippy's ears but didn't pay much attention, then tonight I noticed it again. It looks really affectionate and Pip wasn't trying to push her away or anything so I'm wondering if it's a grooming thing? When I googled it that seemed to be the general consensus, but I just wondered why I'd never seen it before now - I'm not sure if it's never happened or if I've just never seen it (both times I've seen it have been when I've gotten up through the night). It was definitely just licking, not biting or nipping. Pip does have a little nick in her ear but that's just been there forever so I don't even know when she got that and I know it's not recent. I did wonder if it might have something to do with an ear infection but her ears seem fine so I don't think it's that. I don't feel like it's something I need to be concerned about but I wondered it anyone else had had experience with this/is it normal?
Thanks! Always find the best advice here
