Just picked up Biscuit for some cuddle time and noticed what looks like an injury on his ear? He doesn’t appear to be in any pain or anything just wondering what it might be and if we should get it looked at or just keep an eye on it?

Hello. It’s hard to see from the photo. Does he live with a friend? Maybe it’s a nip from them? Is there any hair loss or scabs anywhere else on the piggy? I’d keep an eye on it for a few days and see if it gets worse. If so definitely a trip to the vets for a check up.

It’s difficult to tell from the photo. Does it look red/swollen etc? Keep it clean (he’ll likely do a good job of that anyway) but if it seems to get worse then do get it checked out.

Thanks for your replies!

We're thinking that his cage mate Teacake gave him a little nip. Both boys are coming up to a year old and there's been a lot of rumblestrutting/humping etc. Teacake's so far been the alpha piggy so we're thinking Biscuit is having another testosterone spike and trying to challenge Teacake's leadership. We've been watching them carefully and there's no signs that it's going to escalate into a full on fight/major signs of aggression or that Teacake is bullying Biscuit in any way, he's not constantly chasing him, and doesn't stop him from eating or drinking etc....the C&C is bigger than the recommended space for two boars and we have two of everything and all of the hides they have in there have two exits so no piggy can get cornered/trapped

His ear doesn't look red or swollen or feel any hotter to the touch. There's been no fur loss (other than the bald patch Abyssinians have behind their ears) and Biscuit's still eating/drinking/pop corning when he gets his pen cleaned. We've given him a check over and can't see any other bite marks around his ears or butt.

Fingers crossed it was just a little disagreement! We'll make sure to keep an eye on it <3
