I am eager to get my 2 young boars into a bigger hutch in the warmer months which we have but the rabbit is currently 'over wintering in it to give our grass a break as it's so wet and poor right now. Ok, so no probs. as he'll be out on the grass by the time the pigs go out but I want a really nice large hutch!

I have a few options:
buy (but will require value for money!)
make (have to work on hubby but on the plus he did it before for me and it was ace and then got converted into 4 massive double chicken nest boxes-no joke!
Convert what we have a good idea but they are the cheap and flimsy sorts!

So a few Q's after looking at others' hutches - where can I find a good value for money ready made hutch **** a double storey so it's a good height for my children to see them/pet them? Where is the best and cheapest place to find wood if I successfully worked on hubby? I managed to get round him to get them in over this winter will worry about next winter next year! x

its a shame you arent closer, i have 2 7ft hutches available and they are waist height so perfect for piggy interaction. fancy a day trip to lincolnshire in a hire van :)) sorry i know, I'm not much help here am i. i hope you find what you want to spoil your pigglies and give them lots of space to popcorn around :)

bummer! I have my own man who has a very big van lol! BUT it's a bit too far :(

if you end up buying one (if hubby doesn't give in as planned!) i'd definitely think about asking a local shed builder or something similar to make one for you. i managed to get a huge three level 6ft wide x 2 1/2 ft deep hutch for £300. i know this is quite a lot, but it was incredible value for money and i designed it exactly as i wanted it which would be great to make sure it suits the kids. the upside is you can get something on the larger side that you'd never be able to get in a shop and it's often a lot better value for money and quality. i'm so pleased with my hutch, a bomb could hit it and it'd still be standing! x

Although I haven't bought from this supplier (my pigs are indoors so I don't have a hutch), others have recommended them for quality. The basic guinea pig hutch is a really good price. The double tier is more pricey but one of the only ones I have seen with a barrier and sides on the ramp.

If you are going to make one yourself, then worth having a look at these for inspiration. Sides guards on the ramp are a great idea. Also bolts and dalvanised mesh to make it fox proof. :)

:) Hi girls thanks for your replies. £300 is alot of money yes! My hubby built a huge wide and high 2 storey one with the galvanised mesh you speak of 12 years ago .... it's still holding up adapted though...as 4 double sized nesting boxes for our hens lol! We were not *supposed to be getting any more guinea pigs since we lost the last pair :(|) else they'd be in there lol!
