Dilly's Piggies
Teenage Guinea Pig
So yesterday morning I noticed some red poops in the cage, I immediately started panicking as I'm sure everyone would naturally, thinking one of my piggies had a very serious problem with blood in their poop. I spent 3 hours sat next to the cage waiting for all 5 pigs to poop, to find out who the culprit was, however everyone was doing normal poops, everyone was fine, not looking or acting sick at all, I was completely baffled.
Today I go in to see the piggies and I notice red poops again, however this time I was not worried as I noticed one of their dyed chew toys had been ripped to shreds. Funnily enough they only are the pink parts of the toy, being girls that probably makes sense. That toy has been in the cage for around a year now and nobody has ever had any interest in it.
So I have gathered my evidence and will present my case to prove that dyed toys can make your guinea pig poop rainbows, like a unicorn!
Exhibit A: A red poop in the middle, with two normal coloured poops on either side.
Exhibit B: A very mangled chew toy with only the pink middle part and pink dangling tassels chewed off.
Exhibit C: A pig with a pink mouth, undoubtedly the suspect in this case.
My guinea pigs have had many toys in their lives, but I've never seen one do this before, I was quite amazed! Has anyone here had this happen before? I suspect the pink parts were dyed with beetroot.
