Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus (Happy St David's Day) to all our Welsh forum members and piggies!
I was wondering how many of us celebrate this, have Welsh family or piggies or some sort of Welsh connection.
I have a Welsh husband and a Welsh piggy Blodwen, and studied in Wales, so we always celebrate this at our house- cook something with leeks, sing the national anthem, I make a rather dodgy attempt at speaking the language a bit...
I know @Wiebke also has a strong Welsh connection- anyone else?

Happy St David's Day!

Sadly, no longer any proper Welsh-born piggies here (Beryn 'Candytuft', RIP August 2021, adopted from the RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen in Colwyn Bay North Wales in 2017 was the last one of them) but the Welsh name theme still continues.
Hapus 'Happy' is closing in on her 7th birthday later this month after losing her sister Llawen 'Merry' in January.

I am including a bit of leek in our rainbow tray of roast veg tonight. :)

I've never actually been to Wales. Been through it a few times on a coach or in the car because of the ferry crossing, and confused some poor English bloke during the car trip. We'd stopped for a toilet break, and this guy was lost and trying to find somewhere, and figured I might know. I had no idea where I even was and it turns out he understood less of what I was saying than what the Welsh were telling him.

I felt bad for him. I also might have snickered about the whole thing once he'd left, because I'm mean like that.

Hope everyone enjoyed their St David's Day celebrations!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
I studied in Wales (Swansea) and have been on holiday in North Wales several times with my family.
My OH and I both have Welsh ancestry - his maternal grandfather was a Welsh speaker born in Denbigh, on my side I have a Welsh great grandmother supposedly descended (on the wrong side of the tracks 😉) from the last Welsh Prince of Wales ... 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I have 5 Welsh piggies adopted from Glynneath guinea pig rescue, although only one was born at the rescue so can't say for sure if the others are truly Welsh or not!

My Tribe founding patriarch Llewelyn (RIP 2011) was rescued from a wildlife place in Mid-Wales where he shared a pen with chickens and rabbits. I rescue dated him with my bereaved Dizzy at a West Midlands rescue with Welsh connections.
My hub did asked to keep Llewelyn's Welsh name (with the correct Welsh pronunciation). That is how my Welsh names theme started back in 2007.

Fflwbri 'Moonlight' (RIP 2019) and Tesni 'Sun-warmed' (RIP 2018) were stuck in rescue sisters from a rescue in Mid-Wales in 2011; Tesni's surprise daughter Tegan (RIP 2019) was conceived in Wales but born here.

Sisters from different litters Hedydd 'Skylark' (RIP 2019) and Heulwen 'Sunshine' (RIP 2019) were adopted from Glynneath in South Wales at the end of 2011/start of 2012, the same rescue as yours, @Pound Shilling & Pig .

I picked up Beryn 'Candytuft' (RIP 2021) from the RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen by Colwyn Bay in North Wales in 2017.
