My little Cleo came with quite dry ears (and quite dry skin in general bless her, but obviously lice probably didn’t help!) and just wondering what people think is best really to use on a little nearly 4 month old to help?
I used Gorgeous Guineas creams/shampoos with Sheepy the alpaca as he was really prone to dry skin and ear issues but never used coconut oil! :hmm: Jasper’s are pretty dry with him being a rex too.
They’ve improved a lot, think a good diet and getting rid of the parasites has helped but the edges are quite flaky at times and wouldn’t like to think she’s itchy after everything else! (Has got little bitten ears too bless her!)
She’s had a few vet trips obviously(!) and Simon didn’t think it was fungal, just want to make sure they don’t cause her any discomfort!

Just got to get it on without Jaws kicking up too much fuss and me losing a finger! :))

I'm using coconut oil on Brillo's at the moment. If he gets a lot of dry skin build up on the inside in the folds (only the folds under the flap, not the inner ear canal) I use a cotton bud dipped in warm water with a tiny bit of the GG conditioning shampoo in it. I did speak to the vet about it when I was there for something else and she said olive oil or coconut oil for an occasional moisturising was fine as long as I was sure it was dry skin and not fungal. I did find olive oil too greasy though.

Thanks so much @piggieminder and @Swissgreys :) Really helpful, coconut oil it is! It’s been almost 8 years since Sheepy and his issues and not had any probs with Jess, Rupert or the porky pair, coconut oil seems to be the ‘new’ thing so thought I’d check! She’ll smell nice when pulling her evil eyes at me and trying to eat me at least!:)):))

Wish I’d known that with Sheepy years ago @piggieminder! He had problems with waxy build-ups in his ears with them being floppy and having so much hair, lots of ear drops etc, his little ears used to get so dry and were a bit of a nightmare! (Poor lad!)

I found coconut oil in B&M recently, can't remember exactly how much it was but about a third of the price I got it in the supermarket.

I used Vaseline on my piggies ears years ago when he had dry ears. Worked fine for him :)
Ooh thanks @Julesie, hadn’t thought of that! Got loads here so could pop a bit on today!
I’m always biting my lips during seizures and I’d be a mess without it! (Sorry, sounds horrible to write it down but one of those things with epilepsy that’s very annoying!)

No problem 😊
It never caused any problem to my little man and his dryness went away with it.

Bless you. My best friend suffers from seizures too.

I have a feeling Vaseline is one of those human things that should not be used on guinea pigs.

Oh no, well haven’t put any on yet so will have a read!
The local vets nurse told me to put sudocrem on Rosie the cats sores from her flea allergy dermatitis many years ago, she could reach and puked that up everywhere, not pleasant! 🤢🙈
